RESULTS: THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS--IT COULD BE WORSE :)

Well, it seems the chemo cocktail that has kept me as protected as possible has run out of steam. The biopsy confirmed a cancerous mass on my ovary; an extension of the colon cancer. It is possible to have a "new" cancer, such as, ovarian or breast etc., but it has stemmed from the original spot. Not the best news, because, if it were a new cancer there would probably be more options for treatment. As it stands, there is only one left at this time that is available for me for the colon.

The good news--no more pump or visits to the clinic. (I will definitely miss the angels there that have taken care of me) This new concoction is in pill form which obviously can be taken at home. The bad news--another risk as we do not know how well I will respond to it. My fear is that I'll have to go through all the throwing up and just feeling plain yukky until my body adjusts and we figure out what meds will control the possible symptoms I may have.

My hope is that it will be even better than the last one, and I'll feel even healthier than before. AND that it will shrink the tumor on my ovary like it's supposed to and halt any more spreading. Only the scans will tell. Surgery is not an option as it will only complicate things if I were to be opened up again.

Next stop will be a specialist at Karmanos(Detroit) in the spring who can hopefully offer some other possible alternatives after the pill. It is likely that I will have to move on to clinical trials in the future. We shall see.

Until then, I will keep my head up, stay positive and continue my writing and the joy of having a grand baby this summer. :) Ahhh, summer, can't wait to get outside again.

As always, thanks for reading. I'm going to share a part of my book in my next post so tune in. ;)
