I've been a little on the blank side lately trying to come up with interesting things to write about. I have to remind myself that this isn't some syndicated column for some important newspaper or magazine. lol- And that all I have to do is write what I feel like writing. Geesh, keep it simple Jen. Plus, I currently have about six notebooks that contain scattered entries that need to be organized so I can find certain thoughts and ideas I've copied throughout the last few months. Besides that, my nose has been in four to five books, which means copying even more thoughts and ideas. Shew!!
Anyway, I just finished "Jesus Our Yearning" (J.O.Y.) by Charles Van Winkle, CSC, delightful book I must say; and "How to Write A Damn Good Novel," by James N. Frey. The first was given to me by Linda Whaley, my former employer; So thank you Linda, I enjoyed it very much. The second was recommended by CEO and founder of Inspiration for Writers, Inc. where I found exactly that: Inspiration and a wonderful editor. Much thanks to Sandy and Sandi you have been immensely helpful.
I am in the home stretch of "The Cancer Recovery Plan," by D. Barry Boyd, M.D. and Marion Betancourt. Basically he says "In addition to the best medical care possible, nutrition, exercise and stress reduction are absolutely necessary to make your cancer treatment more effective and prevent cancer's return." And that makes sense. I however, am not following a very healthy diet. Everything he has listed not to eat, I eat. But I have taken small steps to increase my vegetable and fruit intake. We all know how difficult it is to maintain a healthy diet this time of year. I will include more information from that book later.
Busy is almost an understatement. With the holidays, visitors, and treatment where does one find the time? I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving. Being thankful is definitely an understatement for me. My most prominent gifts of course, were having my family together and being healthy enough to enjoy them. My daughter who made an eleven hour trip due to weather drove home from Wisconsin, my other two children took time out there their busy day, and my darling husband who has been working like crazy to provide for all of it. AND I got an extra week off of treatment. That was a bonus for sure.
Today, I just want to encourage all who read this that every day is a day to be thankful. While driving to work, taking a shower, standing in line, take a moment under your breath or out loud, and simply say "Thank You" to whoever or whatever appeals to you. The Universe will be grateful as will the person or persons you wish to show gratitude. 'Tis the season always my friends!
In closing, I hope you will return for my next attempt at "graceful" writing. I'm going to post pics of my port and pump. See...what is that you say? Stay tuned. Please comment, I love to hear feedback of any kind.
Love and hugs to all,
Jen
