Well, here it is in all it's glory. This is my "other" partner every other week. I've gotten used to carrying it around. But no matter how used to it I am, I always forget to grab it at least once; usually on the second day. I'm reminded quite quickly as the weight of the pump jerks the needle in my chest. Luckily, the tubing is a decent length, about three feet, so I have some to work with.
It sits on the back of my toilet while I shower; and I use cling wrap to cover the port even though it has a bandage on it. There is always a fear of infection. Sleeping with it is easier than I thought it would be. I just set it on my nightstand and toss and turn as much as I want. But I am always ready to have it taken off by Wednesday.
It's quite an incredible invention. People would have to stay in the hospital for that period of time before it. At least I get to relax in the comfort of my home while toxic chemicals flow through me.
Ironic how I used to use toxic chemicals that should've killed me and now a different mixture is used to save my life. ;)
Anyway, that's about all I have to say about the port and pump; except that it takes patience! Something I'm constantly working on.
Have a great one all,
Jen
