Unexpected Health News!

Hello friends,

My oncologist sent me to see a colon cancer specialist in Detroit at the Karmanos Cancer Center. The reason being, was to see if we could use a previous chemotherapy that I had obtained an allergic reaction to. The treatment I am on now is the last of the drugs available to me other than experimental drugs. The specialist said they would do no good and he did not recommend me going on the previous chemo due to the reaction, because it would do no good either.

So, here I am stuck with only one other option which I did not see coming. Surgery! He believes I may be a good candidate since the cancer hasn't spread recently and is localized in my pelvic region. All along I've been told surgery was too risky, not an option. And now all of the sudden it's possible.

I'm being set up to consult with a surgeon in Gross Pointe at St. John's Hospital. Yes, it is a risk and a very extensive surgery. A lot to weigh out. I could run the risk of losing my bladder or possibly another organ depending on the placement of the tumor.

I am apprehensive but hopeful. I would like to ask for your prayers that God will lead me in the right decision. The plus is, I won't have to do chemo anymore, but...I could lose parts of my body. So, if you're the praying kind, I ask gratefully for you to do so. If not, wish me the best. I will update this post as soon as I speak with the surgeon.

Thank you all for your support.

Love and hugs,

Jen
